The Beatles

We have listened to a lot of Beatles music this year. The good thing about that is the fact that I love the Beatles and they are the best band of all time. The bad thing is that I have to compare all other music we listen to to them. I also find their older music more interesting to listen to than their newer stuff, even though its all old. Even though albums like abbey road and let it be are very good. I think the Beatles sound more as one in their older albums. I wish we still had music like theirs today.

ACL 2013

A big topic of conversation the past few weeks was whether two weekends of ACL is going to be a good or bad thing. In 2013 Austin plans to host two separate weekends of the famous Austin City Limits Music Festival, I think this is a great idea but also not a great idea. The main reason behind the two weekends is clearly money. Two separate weekends means double the money, and all anyone is looking for today is money. ACL generates a lot of income and helps boost Austins economy which is another reason I want there to be two weekends of ACL. A bad thing about this though is the possibility that your friend might be going one weekend and you another and that's the only bad thing about this, the fact you might not be able to see all your friends. I am looking forward to two weekends and plan on going all of the first weekend than maybe to a couple days of the second, anyway Im still waiting for the lineup!

Otis

We got to listen to Otis Redding in class the other week and I really enjoyed his singing. But what I really heard when we listened to the song Try a Little Tenderness was the song Otis by Kanye West and Jay-Z. I think it is really cool that rappers and musicians today are using parts of songs from years ago. Otis Redding released the song Try a Little Tenderness in 1966 and the song Otis by Kanye West and Jay-Z came out in 2011. I find it really cool that they would sample something from a song that came out almost 50 years ago and use it for music now. Back to Otis Redding, I really enjoy his voice and I enjoy soul music and I think that music from the past is much better than this shit some rappers put out now a days. Although I do listen to rap and rock from my time I prefer old bands like the Beatles and artists like Otis Redding and various others. I am now going to be looking for more references to old songs in rappers music now a days. Otis by Kanye and Jay-Z

ACL 2012

ACL 2012 was a blast to say the least; the music, the food, the people. I love everything about ACL I mean who doesn't? This years headliners were Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young, Jack White, Black Keys, and Avicii. I got to see Avicii, Neil Young, and Red Hot Chili Peppers I think the light show at Avicii was the best I have ever seen and probably one of the best I will ever get to see in my life time. Neil Young was pretty good, I went more because I don't care for Jack White and Neil Young is a legend and played at Woodstock! Red Hot Chili Peppers was incredible probably one of my favorite bands of all time and they sounded great, I sang along to almost every song and if you were there you know how awesome they were to see. I also got to see Big Gigantic, A-Trak, Ben Howard, Weezer, 2 Door Cinema Club, Bassnectar, and a few others. I highly suggest checking out ACL in 2013 I know I will be there and am looking forward to next October.

Dubstep

Dubstep is the newest fad in music, all the kids today are listening to this dubstep  Some of the most known dubstep artists are Skrillex, Flux Pavillion, and Bassnectar. Bassnectar is going to be one of the big shows at the Austin City Limits Music Festival this year which is coming up in a couple weeks! I'm really excited to see Bassnectar at ACL in two weeks I think its going to be insane, some of their songs that I like and a lot of others like are Bass Head, The Matrix, and Timestretch. Skrillex is probably the biggest name in dubstep and he happened to preform at Austin City Limits Music Festival last year and unfortunately I couldn't make it. Dubstep is one of my favorite genres of music and I think eveyone should check out dubstep and my favorite artists ZEDS DEAD and Borgore. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUGzY-ihqWc

Rolling Stones vs The Beatles

I consider myself a fan of the Rolling Stones basically because of the song Paint it Black which was on Guitar Hero 3. A lot of the songs we were listening to in class by the Stones I thought that they sounded a lot like the Beatles in a lot of the songs. I couldn't tell the difference between the two bands in some of the songs. Except I do not prefer the Stones over the Beatles just because the Beatles have maybe 10 bad songs out of the hundreds they have. The Rolling Stones only have a few songs that I like and would consider paying to listen to when the Beatles have dozens on songs I could pay to listen to. The Rolling Stones just aren't as good of a band as the Beatles and Mick Jagger's singing is nothing like the singing of John, Paul, and George from the Beatles.

Logic

I really enjoy listening to the rapper Logic in my spare time, he is one of my favorite artists. He is part of the Visionary Music Group, he is currently on tour with Tayyib Ali and unfortunately they are not coming to Austin Texas. Logic has two very good mix tapes in my opinion called Young Sinatra and Young Sinatra: Undeniable which include hits such as Tic Tac Toe, The Spotlight, Numbers, All I Do, and Juice. Logic's considers his fans as the "Ratt Pack" and "Bobby Soxers" and he keeps getting more followers and fans everyday. Checkout some of his music on YouTube! @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPEsDF5WL1w&feature=related
